CSX R410 |
Description: |
At 5:57pm on Monday, August 17, 2015, westbound CSX train R410 began to turn north onto Norfolk Southerns Youngstown Line via the Center Street connection track as it passed under the East Federal Street bridge in Youngstown, Ohio with four ex-Florida East Coast Railway SD70M-2s in transit to new rails. The units, originally on lease to FEC, are on their way to the northern states after their lease from EMD expired in early 2015. The four units were purchased by leasing company FURX, which will split the units with Providence and Worcester and the Vermont Railway (two for each). After spending their lives thus far on the sunny, warm, Florida East Coast, being reassigned to the northeast, known for its massive snow storms, is worse than a death sentence. The power for R410 was CSX #960 (ES44AH), CSX #7547 (C40-8), and CSX #8352 (SD40-2), which was pulling FURX #101 (SD70M-2), FURX #100 (SD70M-2), FURX #102 (SD70M-2), and FURX #103 (SD70M-2). Also, CSX #8352 was built as a straight SD40 in June of 1971 for the Clinchfield Railroad as number 3018. |
