ARR RDC-3 #701 - Alaska RR
Quite a boomer car having bounced from ore roster to another. Originally built by Budd Company in 1953 as NH RDC-3 #126, it moved over to PC as #93 in 1969, then PennDOT 93 in 1981, and on to SEPTA as 9171 in 1983. The Alaska RR purchased it in 1985 and used it extensively. Somewhere along the way it lost the RPO part during one of its renovations. Unfortunately , in 2008 after the annual inspection, it was determined that the repairs needed would be too costly. It was retired and stored until being sold to a South American company in November of 2019. Ken Ardinger took this 120 film size photo.
