With the fireman leaning out the cab door, Frisco 2-8-0 Consolidation #1248 sits in the Birmingham, Alabama yard waiting to pull out. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in November of 1907, the loco served well. It was rebuilt in 1930 with a superheated and piston valves. The loco met up with the scrapper's torch in March of 1952. Specs - class 1226, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine weight of 207,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,300 lb.
