Westing. Here is a photo that was published originally in Fred Westing's 1974 book entitled "Pennsy Steam And Semaphores," page 63. Partial Caption: "Alco's Cole compound No. 2760 built for the road east of Pittsburgh on the point of a westbound triple-header rounding the Horse Shoe Curve." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2760, the E-29 (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built by the American Locomotive Company during 1905 and retired in February of 1917 after just 12 years of experimental service. |
