Here is a postal card entitled "Mechanics' Library, Altoona, Pa." Postmarked: 24 September 1908. This structure was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad for the instruction and technical guidance of the men who designed the locomotives and rolling stock that the Pennsy built in Altoona. Located on 11th Avenue between 12th & 13th Streets, it was in its day one of the foremost engineering and materials libraries in the world. |
