The LIRR was in paint scheme transition in the late 1970s. They had received their new GP 38s-their first EMDs-in a blue and white scheme inspired by the Milwaukee Roads bicentennial unit. Other power was starting to make the transition, but the new scheme had not made it onto everything yet, and the FAs were still in the gray with blue stripe at the window band level. One of them is going away under the signals on an Oyster Bay train, hanging onto its old paint just a little longer. |
