PC Westbound Hump, #4 of 4, 1972
Yard Work. Here is the fourth of four successive original photos that I took in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during August of 1972. Shifting cars on the Westbound Hump is Penn Central engine #9020, an SW1200 switcher built by GM-EMD as Pennsylvania Railroad number "7920" in November of 1957, rated at 1,200 horsepower, and renumbered "9020" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this artsy-shot using the rear-view mirror of my Datsun 240-Z, #9020 is at the very top of the Westbound Hump. In olden days, there was a two-story Hump Tower located there. The hill in the distance overlooks the Village of Loop Station.
