Conrail would not let NYSW and D&H change crews out on the main, so the stack trains had to be yarded. Sometimes, if there was a crew working with some time, they would use a yard engine to assist with the back up move. That is what this appears to be, since these trains rarely, if ever, went solo on over the road. It looks like an eastbound being backed down the Buffalo Runner to QD, where, once the train is on the main, it will go east, and this unit will go back to the yard.
