PURCELL OK June 25 1979 -- Santa Fe SD45 5553 and SD45-2 5670 head up a train on a northbound yard track directly opposite the station. A crew has been called and they will be on their way. EMD built the 5553 (s/n 32529) as ATSF 1853 in November 1966 and delivered it in blue with yellow ends. Sopmetime after Aug 26 1972 it was painted yellow warbonnet. In Feburary 1982 the San Bernardino shops rebuilt it as an SD45u and renumbered it 5323. It was laid up bar order in JUne 1992, retired in February 1993 and sold to Wisconsin Central Rwy in March 1993 as WC 6593 in maroon and yellow paint.
