The Crawford Notch station, known as Crawfords in the MEC timetable, was built in 1891. Once seeing passenger trains of both MEC and B&M, this was an important stop for visitors to these mountains as well as to the Crawford House, a large hotel that once stood next door. The station still sees trains of the Conway Scenic Railroad but the once great MEC passenger trains and long freights struggling up the grade through here are a thing of the past. |
