It doesn't look like a tourist train, as the equipment matches! Nice shot!!

Nice consist, yah I'd highly agree that is not a tourist train. That shot is one of my favorites now.

In revenue service. Southern Railway didn't join Amtrak till 1979. The Southern Crescent was both the last privately operated overnight train in the US and the last real E-unit streamliner.

I love this shot. The heavyweight almost looks like a full dome if you look at it from a distance. Again great shot

I take it that the photo was not taken in 2005 but prior to 1979. Great location and great capture.

Beautiful shot of one of America's last great passenger trains, and one which survived the onset of Amtrak in 1971. It was a joy to ride, and the diner could not have been better-prime rib you could cut with a fork!! Some of the E units wound up on NJ Transit after the Crescent went to Amtrak. I had the good fortune to see them working out of South Amboy on the NY&LB in the 80's. It was not the first time a Southern E traded off to a GG 1, though!!
