IC2 180 is crossing the bridge at Haemeenlinna and heading for Haemeenlinna station and later to Riihimaeki and Helsinki. Between Haemeenlinna and Helsinki it will use the first railroad connection in Finland, which was opened 1862. The track was 1862 96 km long, singled tracked and expected to carry one train a day. Knut Adolf Ludvig Stjernvall was construction manager, and came under criticism for the project cost, resigning in 1861. It seems, same kind of problems we face today ! |
