A FV&LS (or FOXY) train crosses W. Spencer St. as it pulls 8 cars south at Appleton Junction, WI, on 31 Jan. '25. I'm not sure who laid these rails, they formed an interchange between the former C&NW yard (out-of-frame to the right) and the former SOO yard (out-of-frame to the left). The FV&LS inherited both yards from the CN. The tracks form the border between Appleton (far side) and the Town of Grand Chute (near side). There is a simple memorial attached to the railing at the center of the bridge. Sadly, Betty Rolf was murdered here on 7 Nov. '88. Unsolved for nearly 36 years, on 21 May '24 Gene Meyer was convicted for murdering her. |
