| Kansas City Southern GP40 765 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans. It had been built in September 1968 as Penn Central 3136 (EMD 34313) and was acquired by the KCS in October 1983, after its initial 15-year lease expired. KCS sent it to Morrison- Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP in August 1991 to be upgraded into a GP40M-2, and it was released as the 4784 on 12 November 1991. It was subsequently renumbered 2831. |
