Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken during a railfan excursion in Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, on 11 July 1954. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #830, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during 1917 and retired in April of 1958. Also visible on the right (L to R) are portions of PRR diesel-electric engines #5883 and #5882; both are EP-20's built by GM-EMD in 1949 and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. Wood. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by Don Wood that was taken in Morgan, New Jersey, in September of 1954. Shown here (F to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #830 and #1983. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built in Juniata. #830 was built in July of 1917 and retired in April of 1958, while #1983 was built in March of 1918 and retired in December of 1955. Mr. Woods' Caption: "Engines 830 and 1983 have just crossed Cheesequake Creek bridge at Morgan Station on the last leg of the journey from Bay Head to South Amboy. Train is No. 782." Here is an image of a photo by Edward Kaspriske taken in Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, in 1956. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #830 and #612. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" steam locomotives built in Juniata. #830 was built in July of 1917 and retired in April of 1958. #612 was built in April of 1917, later equipped with a front-end throttle and reclassified as a K-4SA, and retired in April of 1958.
