Album Info:The Downeast Scenic had just completed refurbishing the east side of the old Maine Central Y at Washington Junction. This track hasn't seen a train in over 25 years. New ties were installed this Spring, and the 'Bank Run Ballast' tamped and groomed in the past few weeks. A test train ran over the Y on July 17th. A second set of spikes were put down on the out side of the sharp curve making up the east leg the morning before the first revenue train ran. The long out of service east side of the Y runs between the origional MEC passenger line to McNeil Point with its ferry connection to Bar Harbor and the old Washington County RR main line heading east to its namesake county. /DL
