Out of 62 double-deck Class 502 ordered, 30 rains as an eight-part, 200-meter-long version IR 200 with 696 seats. They have 10% higher seat capacity than the Re 460 / IC2000 standard double deck coach trains. This was achieved with the distributed drive system in which twelve traction motors are used in the bogies of eight-part units and the positioning of the pantograph at the front and back end of the EMU. Swiss Regional Train - InterRegio Chur-St.Gallen |
Description: |
The IR 200, as the four car IR 100 and its intercity counterpart IC 200, is characterized by a variant of the tilting technology, called WAKO (passive roll compensation). In contrast to active tilting technology, which allows a tilt of up to 8°, here it is only 2°. The WAKO is more fail-safe due to the lower technical complexity of the system. With the roll compensation, depending on the elevation, curves can be traversed approx. 9 to 15 percent faster. |
