In the face of a "Southern Pacific Santa Fe" |
Description: |
Many years before the "Kodachrome" scheme, lol. "Santa Fe" was the nickname for the 2-10-2 type locomotives since they were the first railroad to use it. |

N&W (Strasburg) 475 stands ready to take the first train of the day tender-first |
Description: |
Although the Strasburg Rail Road has a Ronks, PA street address, geographically it (together with the adjacent Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania) is much closer to the namesake community of Strasburg, so I will use that as the location. |

PRR 460, engineer's side |
Description: |
Nicknamed "The Lindbergh Engine" for pulling a special Washington, D.C.-New York City charter train carrying newsreel footage of Charles Lindbergh's return to the United States following his famous 1927 New York-Paris solo flight. A rival newsreel company sent their footage via aircraft, which arrived in New York first, but the film brought by train "won" by getting into theaters first because it was able to be processed on board the train. |

GG1-killer next to the prototype GG1 |
Description: |
It took Amtrak until the early 1980s to find a suitable replacement for the nearly fifty-year-old GG1s, in the form of the AEM-7. They were themselves replaced in the mid-2010s by the current Siemens ACS-64. 915 is one of three preserved, I've also seen the 945 which is at Illinois Railway Museum. |
