The remaining 8 C 420s that had been working in freight service on the LIRR sit outside the Morris Park shops after being pulled from service following the opening of the Ronkonkoma electrification. The retirement would be short, as several would return to service, including 225 and 229, which would be repainted in the 1960s era blue and yellow MTA scheme.
